My Dad just sent me this article from the New York Times about the shady practices of many moving companies.
I can attest to this, as I’ve briefly mentioned before. Basically, I hired a company to move some of my stuff from Texas to Charlottesville, VA. They quoted a certain price, and later charged me significantly more, refusing to deliver my furniture until I payed what they wanted. Meanwhile, my stuff was shipped from warehouse to warehouse all over Virginia, and it was way more trouble than it was worth.
Read the article and be wiser for it. These people are crooks and if you ever need to use movers in the future, you should be aware of what is out there.

Been listening to this one a lot, pretty much the whole way through.
This novel was published after the Chilean-Mexican author's death, and I'm not even sure if it was entirely finished or not. It is broken up into five parts which, while connected, stand pretty much on there own. I have not yet made it to the grim part about the murders of hundreds of women in Mexico, so I have so far found it enjoyable and even funny despite some dark underpinnings. It's had a ton of critical praise, and I like it much more than my last foray into the violent novel genre: Blood Meridian.
